Discovery and Learning
The curriculum at St. Peter's Early Childhood Program is based on the play centered approaches of Maria Montessori, the Waldorf School and Reggio Emilia. The teachers at our school are committed to allowing your child to be self directed in his or her learning. We will strive to nurture a child's mind, body and spirit and to focus on the child's interests.
Within this child-led environment, we will establish skills that help form the foundations of learning. Subjects such as art, music, language, and mathematics are gently introduced to children in a kind and open learning environment.
Some of the themes we cover throughout the year are:
All About Me, Trees/Leaves/Apples/Fall, Harvest, Farm Animals, Pumpkins, Halloween, Community Helpers, Thankfulness, Giving/Sharing, Holiday Traditions, Christmas, Winter Weather, Cold Weather Animals, Healthy Bodies, Transportation, Love/Friendship, Feelings/Emotions, Fairy Tales, Dinosaurs, Easter, Spring, Earth Day, Animal Categories, Growing Things, Sports, Summer
